Senate Bill 49.

SB49, sponsored by anti-gun Sen. Sue Windels (D-JeffCo), designed to force gun owners into making their firearms inaccessible for defense

by making criminals out of gun owners who don’t lock up their guns, has cleared the Senate State, Veterans and Military Affairs Committee

and is headed to the Senate floor. It is vital that this bill be defeated in the Senate, where the Democrat majority is smaller, before it gets to

the House. Please call/write/email your state senator (directory at www.leg.state.co.us ), especially the senators listed below, and politely

and respectfully urge them to oppose this bill that restricts your right to defend yourself, your family and your property.

Ouray County Commissioners Proposing Noise Ordinance That Will Ban Recreational Shooting!

Friday, June 15, 2007

The Ouray County Board of Commissioners is considering Ordinance 07-01 and 07-02 to restrict decibel (db) levels to 55 during the day and 50 during the night.  Keep in mind that a normal conversation is about 60 db.

This ordinance would effectively ban anyone from target shooting on his or her own property in the county because they would violate the decibel levels emanating beyond property boundaries.  The only exception made for firearms in the ordinance is for cases of emergency.

The hearing for Ordinance 07-01 and 07-02 is set for Monday, June 25 at 2:00 pm.  It will be held at the Ouray County 4-H Event Center located at 22739 Hwy. 550 in Ridgway.

Please make plans to attend this hearing and voice your opposition to this attack on our Second Amendment rights.  If you are unable to attend, please contact the members of the County Board of Commissioners at (970) 325-7320 and respectfully urge them to defeat Ordinance 07-01 and 07-02.

NRA Range Development & Operations Conference in Tampa, FL June 9 - 13, 2007.

The Range Development and Operations Conference is a five-day seminar focusing on fundamental aspects of building and maintaining a shooting facility. The conference is designed to educate range owners and operators, of both existing and proposed range facilities, to identify potential problems associated with engineering, environmental issues, and safety.

Presentations are given by America's top experts on range development. The ultimate goal of the conference is to give attendees a forum to share their knowledge, and ensure the public has a safe and convenient place to shoot in order to exercise their second amendment rights.

A key element for advancement in any profession is continuing education. Today's shooting range operator needs the savvy of a businessman, the wisdom of a firearms enthusiast, and the knowledge of a health and safety professional. The most successful professionals constantly strive to improve their knowledge and expertise by pursuing opportunities to learn from associates and experts.
